Our primary aim in this article is to show that the interpretations presented by the Sufis for Qur’anic statements frequently exceeded the boundaries and criteria set for them in the ‘ulūm al-Qur’ān. In order to express that ishari interpretations did not conform with such criteria, the ishari interpretations of Jamal Khalveti in his book Ta’wilat al-Fatiha wa-al- Duha ila Surat al-Nas will be examined under a few subtitles. We will also present a sample translation of his interpretations for the short chapters of the Qur’an.
