Abstract

Çelebioğlu Complex: The Earliest Representation of the Mawlawiyya in Iran
Recently restored Çelebioğlu Complex is the oldest hângâh which was built by Olcaytu, in the last period of the Anatolian Seljuks (1060-1307), in the city of Sultaniye, Iran. The Mawlawi/Mevlevî order initiated this building during the Seljuk period in Iran, and they also practiced the Mawlawiyah teaching there. In this respect, we will mostly focus on the hypothesis that this historic complex is one of the first mevlevîhânes, which is hardly known in Turkey. In recent years, along with the completion of historical and cultural work on the Çelebioğlu Complex in Iran, this work has been suggested to be a mevlevîhâne. Therefore the main purpose of this article is to draw attention to the Çelebioğlu Complex as one of the oldest of the mevlevîhânes.
